Smokeclipse // First Print

$250.00

On April 8, 2024, a band of North America experienced a total solar eclipse. I knew I wouldn’t get the coveted money shot since I wasn’t in the path of totality but I still wanted to try to do something special to commemorate the celestial event. I looked up how folks observed eclipses back in the day (cause i was late ordering my glasses) and learned they would view them through a piece of “smoked” glass. So I took apart a 5x7 frame, passed the glass over a candle flame until it was covered in thick black soot, rigged it in front of my camera that was pointed at the sun, and then voilà… Smokeclipse!

2024 / Kintnersville, PA

The frame is made from an old stock of rough sawn tongue and groove pine that was left over from a barn renovation in Pipersville, PA.

Giclee print on velvet fine art paper: 7” X 7”

Frame Size: 10” X 10”
